Kurtis Lowe

Kurtis Lowe has served the Pacific Northwest and Alaska as an independent publisher sales rep since 1997. Originally from Montana, Kurtis graduated from the University of Montana with a double BA in English and Spanish Literature and lived in Venezuela, Spain, Nicaragua, and Honduras. In 1989 he moved to Seattle and worked for Elliott Bay Book Company as a bookseller and later in the events department with Rick Simonson. Sometimes hosting up to three events in a day, Kurtis credits the quick study skills required to compose respectful author introductions at the podium with the demands of a sales rep, pitching hundreds of books a season to his booksellers. Kurtis currently represents Candlewick, Independent Publishers Group, Lakeside Books Company, The Stable Group, University of Washington Press, Oregon State University Press, and many more publishers. One of the great honors of his career was working for Elliott Bay Book Company for six years and later Workman Publishing for twenty-two years. In 2022, Kurtis was named the Publishers Weekly Sales Rep of the Year. He is looking forward to being part of the North Words Writers Symposium in 2026.
