Vivian Faith Prescott
Vivian Faith Prescott was born and raised in Kaachx̱ana.áakʼw, Wrangell, Alaska, a small island in the Alexander Archipelago. She lives and writes in Lingít Aaní at Mickey’s Fishcamp in Wrangell. She’s a member of the Pacific Sámi Searvi and founding member of Community Roots, the first LGBTQIA+ group on the island. She’s a 2x recipient of the Rasmuson Fellowship and has received the honors of the Alaska Literary Award, the Jason Wenger Award, Best of the Net for poetry, and the Suzan Nightingale Award for Best Columnist (Planet Alaska) from the Alaska Press Club. She’s currently an Arts Ambassador in the How Are You Creative? Ambassadors Program with the Alaska State Council on the Arts. She holds an MA in Cross Cultural Studies with an emphasis in Indigenous Knowledge Systems from UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks), and an MFA in poetry from University of Alaska Anchorage, in addition to a PhD in Cross Cultural Studies from UAF. Vivian mentors writers through two Alaskan writers’ groups: Blue Canoe Writers and the Drumlin Poets. She’s the author of fourteen books including poetry, a linked story collection, and a foodoir. Her next poetry chapbook, Whale Anthems, is due out in spring 2027 from Petroglyph Press.
