Don Rearden
A novelist, screenwriter, and sometimes tundra poet, Don Rearden wrote the critically acclaimed The Raven’s Gift (Penguin), which made The Washington Post Notable List for Fiction, calling him “a master of the cliffhanger.” He co-authored the best-selling memoirs Never Quit and Warrior’s Creed. A Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage, his recent honors include a Rasmuson Project Award, Contributions to Alaska Literacy Award, and the Alaska Literary Prize for Fiction. He grew up amongst the Yup’ik people of SW Alaska, and in 2019 was recognized by the First Alaskans Institute for his work with the Grammy Award winning band Portugal. The Man on indigenous rights issues and suicide prevention. His latest is a book of poetry, Without A Paddle.
