I was really impressed by the combination of generosity and talent – faculty were not only fabulous artists, but such lovely humans also (2024).

This was my first time at North Words. I was very impressed with the faculty, and particularly their track record of publishing written works of fiction. That was exactly what I was hoping for when I decided to take the time away from my own writing project – a book length work of fiction – and spend the money to get to Skagway (2023).

Social Events: lovely, wonderful, getting mushy just thinking about it.

I was particularly struck by the sense of interconnectedness, community, and harmony within the conference and its faculty. I also appreciate the way the conference is ground in place (2024).

The faculty members were generous and the conference was well-run, professional. I was especially impressed that the faculty attended the participant readings.

Yes, I would recommend it because there are few opportunities like this in the North, and it is good value for the $$!

Truly fabulous this year (2023) — maybe my favorite one ever. It was a great mix of Alaskan faculty. I really enjoyed getting to know Alaskan writers I had read but hadn’t had a chance to meet before.

I enjoyed the balance of participation. Thank you for all your hard work pulling together faculty. And thank you to the faculty for pulling together thoughtful discussions.

This Symposium always leaves me feeling like I really am a writer.
